ROFLMAO & OMAONROFL

I have huge, make that HUGE, gaps in my knowledge base. Just last evening I had to ask Lee the meaning of the acronym ROFLMAO, when she made that cryptic comment on my previous post. I thought she was referring to a rolfing session with Chairman Mao, as disturbing and surreal as that strikes me. She explained that ROFLMAO means: Rolling on the Floor, Laughing My Ass Off. In the meantime, JS's curiosity had been aroused. An internet search for ROFLMAO led her to this rollicking image of Chairman Mao at urbandictionary.com:

I was then reminded of this photo of my son Oakley. Thanks to Lee, thanks to JS, I now have a new name for it: OMAONROFL (Oakley Mao Not Rolling on the Floor Laughing). It was created by a fellow writer at the Sewanee Young Writers' Conference, 2005. Kids today.

Now, if you're curious as to what all the ROFLMAO was about, proceed (at your own risk) to the "Hell on Wheels" post.

My son recently educated me that ROTFLMAO was originally ROTFLMFAO but has been modified by the conservative population. Just in case you can't figure that one out it is: Rolling On The Floor Laughing My F*****g A** Off. Since I hate that F word, I guess I am a member of the "conservative" population. LOL

LOL I love it, San. That picture of Mao is really funny. Guess I need to go back to that dictionary and look again. Nice picture that kid put together.

I'm liking the way you lead others into your next post. I should probably try it someday. :)

Peace! Hope! & Joy!

Jolene, I'm glad you clarified that. I would have been googling again. And I too would have been appalled. Guess I'm getting old. Hug.

Lee,

The picture of Oakley's head was taken from an image of him standing in front of one of my paintings.

Peace, hope, and joy to you!

Hi San,

That's hilarious. My kids had to explain the acronym to me some months ago!!!
Hi San,

In answer to your question about seasons here in Oz, I suspect it stems from the great Aussie preference for simplicity.
Summer starts 1 December, Autumn on 1 March, Winter on 1 June and Spring on 1 September.

Cheers

David

And then change my mind. :-)

Yeah, Jolene, we're gerbils spinning faster and faster on the great activity wheel of life. LOL back.

Hi San,
Did you see that this Post is listed on David McHahon's blog today?
Chuck asked him once what does it take to be honored by him but David never answered him. He must not speak Baby Dragoneese! LOL

I'm on my home laptop, Jolene. David's blog won't load on this machine, but thanks for the heads-up.

David doesn't speak baby dwagonese? What a shame.

That is a great pic of Oakley and I am ROTFLMFAO. All these abbreviations these days - it's hard to keep up.

I've added your blog to my blog links!

Have a good week!

Kate, you put the "F" in too!

Thanks for adding me to your blogroll.

Stay in touch...

San,
You must be a busy lady! I just wanted to stop in and say howdy today.

Howdy, Jolene. That must be what they say in Wyoming.

Busy? I had the weekend off for a change and took the opportunity to do nothing productive. It was heavenly. Back to the grind today. But hope to snag some time to post a big later.

San,
I am technologically handicapped to some extent as well. That's why you see at my place a dull-looking blog without the usual decorations you see around here in blogosphere. Now you know the secret. Shhhh! :D

This is a great post. Congratulations for making it to the well-deserved post of the day. :)

Thanks much for the congratulations--have a great week.
